Hi, I'm Legend, she/ze, and this is January's last interview at the Teashop Between Worlds after a brief hiatus due to a missing laptop cable. Please welcome Circe and Edelgard from Leonard Kearon's The Legend of Circe's AwakeningGosh. I hope my next interviewee isn't going to be asleep. Let's poke them and find out.

Legend: First of all, please introduce yourself. Name, pronouns if you wish, and tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

Circe: Circe Goodwin:  Hi, I’m Circe Summer Goodwin. I am seventeen years old and I am a student at Sunsport Super School. I happen to have the ability to fire Fuchsia coloured energy blasts from my hands which only hurt anything I deem a threat. I am here with my girlfriend; Princess Edelgard Boru.

Princess Edelgard Boru: Greetings. I am Princess Edelgard Zelda Boru, heir to the throne of the Kingdom of Hibernia and Royal Patron of Art and Science. Like My Beloved, I am seventeen years old, though I am half a year older. In my spare time, I enjoy inventing various devices and equipment.

Legend: Interesting. We'd like to see some of your inventions sometime. Can you tell us a bit about the world you live in?

Circe: Sure, we come from a country called Hibernia. It’s a country full of magic and myths and superheroes. Also, sadly supervillains and other threats. I come from Sunsport, a historic city and port in the South-East of the country. I live in St. Declan’s Castle, a boarding school with my adopted Dad. Anything you would like to add, Edie?

Edelgard: I would have to mention my home city; Kingdom City, the capital of Hibernia which is approximately forty kilometres north of Sunsport. Kingdom City is also a historic city but it is a medieval city compared to Sunsport which was based of Nordic designs.

Legend: Sounds intriguingly eclectic. Perhaps a dangerous question to start off with. Who or what is the love of your life?

JCirce: I am sitting next to her. Is that right Edie?

Edelgard: Indeed My Beloved. You may notice our Claddagh Rings on our right ring fingers are pointing inwards symbolising that we are both in a relationship.

Legend: Hope it's a long one and not a teenage flash-in-the-pan.  Let's learn some more about you. If you’re artistic, tell us about your craft and how you got into it.

Circe: I won’t call myself artistic.

Edelgard: That is not true. Circe is a wonderful artist. It is was not for her stronger love of history, she would have taken Art as her college course at Sunsport Super School.

Legend: You'll have to bring in some art when Edelgard brings in an invention. Science, arts, or both?

Circe: Art, easily.

Edelgard: Though I am the Royal Patron of Art and Science, as an inventor I do favour Science.

Legend: Let's throw magic in with art and science. What are the rules of magic in your world?

Circe: Magic comes in four main types, Divine, Elemental, Energy Manipulation and Necromancy. Most magic comes with a cost, especially Divine, which unless you are a Divine being, requires you to make a contract with a Divine being to use. Energy Manipulation is the most common form of magic in Hibernia.

Edelgard: I should inform everyone that Necromancy is forbidden in the Kingdom of Hibernia.

Legend: Dangerous to forbid magics. Hope that doesn't bite you in the butt. How do you feel about magic?

Circe: I use magic, mostly by firing Fuchsia energy blasts, but I am learning various spells like how to create a shield. My power is from the Divine power group, but I don’t really want to talk about where I got it from.

Edelgard: It is okay, My Beloved. You do not have to talk about that.

Legend: Nope. No pressure. Though I'm sure people will find out more if they read your book. Let's go to a safe space. Is there a place, other than your home, that is your place, where you are content and safe?

Circe: I would go with Sunsport Super School, where I am learning both History and how to become a hero. The staff are so nice there and help you with any of your problems. Though I wish the food in the canteen was better.

Edelgard: Yes, the food at Sunsport Super School was disappointing, I had a word with Professor Fargo about that. To answer the question, the place I feel safe is Luna Castle, my personal castle which is largely only used for much-needed vacations. I have a wonderful staff there.

Legend: *Mutters* Alright for some. *Louder* Please feel free to stock up on cookies to take back with you. On the subject of vacations, what’s your ideal holiday?

Circe: I would love to go somewhere historic with Edie or my Dad, of course. Given my name, I would love to visit Athens.

Edelgard: I am always delighted to spend my holidays at Luna Castle. It is so relaxing. Of course, I would want My Beloved with me.

Legend: Sweet. I can guess the answer here, but let's load on the sugar. What are you most grateful for in life?

Circe: My dad, David Goodwin, adopting me after I was abandoned as a baby and raising me as his own daughter.

Edelgard: I am grateful for every time, I am with My Beloved.

Circe: Awww. Edie

Legend: Yep. Tons of syrupy cuteness. We do tea leaf readings here. Would you ask about your future and, if so, what do you want to know?

Circe: Oh, that sounds like fun. It would be nice to learn about the future that doesn’t require prophetic nightmares. What do you think Edie?

Edelgard: It sounds interesting. Hopefully we will learn about our happy life together.

Legend: I know someone who thought it might bring a break from the nightmares, but actually it just triggered more. So maybe we should be careful. Last question. Have you and your author ever seriously disagreed on something? What was it and who won?

Circe: Actually yeah. There was a vampire called the Dearg Due that was terrorising Sunsport. She was a woman who was forced to marry a man she didn’t love and he badly mistreated her. When she died, she sought revenge against all men. The author wanted her to be killed, but I argued that given her tragic life she should be spared. Thankfully, I won out and I believe she is doing well in therapy.

Edelgard: My Beloved can be very persuasive.

Legend: Good for you! What a mean author. Thank you for joining us at the Teashop Between Worlds. Thank you to the audience as well, we'll hopefully see you in February when I get to sink my teeth into- I mean interview some of Thea's Seer of York characters.
