Legend: Hello! Thank you for joining me at the Teashop Between Worlds and thanks to your author, S. R. Arrkewey, for introducing us. First of all, please introduce yourself. Name, pronouns if you wish, and tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

Seth: Hi, I’m Seth. I’m fourteen, though some say I look twelve. I’m an orphan, um, I’ve been one all my life. Bad things happened when I was born, and I lost my mother. I don’t remember either of my parents, but I know my mother was kind and wise, and my father was brave and loved my mother. That’s what people who knew them have told me, at least. Let’s see, something interesting about me. I can read minds, talk to animals, and well, I have some other abilities that are kind of strange, I’m not sure why I have them. I love books and reading them, I love to learn new things. I want to be a scientist; all I want is to explore the amazing theories of the universe and the world. I hope I can do that in my life.

Legend: I hope you can, too. Welcome to the 'lack of parents' club, though I do have a great grandmama. A grandmama who is great, that is, not my grandmama's mama. Can you tell us a bit about the world you live in?

Seth: My world is named Terinta, it has two continents Terina and Celesta. I live on the continent Terina. The world is covered by the great world ocean. It’s a world that has a lot of really interesting creatures in it. There are the Conchingda, and the Dragons, though after The Great Dragon Wars most of them are gone now. And then there are the Kry. They are really cool, very powerful, and I think they’re kind of pranksters. I’ve never met one personally. Terinta has a magical field around it that helps a lot of people do magic. If you’re good at using your voice you can use the magic in the air to create very powerful spells. Terinta is a beautiful place, though I’ve learned most about it through my books.

Legend: I do like vocal magic. *Smirks.* Your world sounds lovely. Let’s a have a quick-fire round of This or That. Try to just answer and not think too hard about it.

Tea or coffee? No, I don’t drink either. I like Zap juice. (Legend: Zap like *electricity sparks off her fingertips*)

Sweet or savoury? Sweet.

Music or sports? Music, I feel sports are for people who aren’t intellectual. But that’s just what I think. I could be wrong.

Paperback or ebook? What’s an ebook? Paperback, though I do enjoy a first edition hardbound.

Paint or pencil? Pencil, so I can write down my ideas about the world and universe.

Countryside or city? City. I’ve lived in the great city of Remtaya for most of my life. I once lived in a small village. I think the city is better.

Fight or negotiate? I’d negotiate. I don’t like conflict or fighting. I’d rather talk it through than fight over it.

Sword or gun? Oh, um, what’s a gun? I don’t like swords, only used to kill people. I’m not a fighter. I don’t want to say gun because I don’t know what that is. It could be worse than a sword.

Vampire or werewolf? Both people are still deeply misunderstood by some. I’d have to say werewolf. I have a good friend, and a great person in general who is a werewolf.

Film or TV series? What are those?

Morals or laws? Can I say both? Laws are to help protect people, mostly. And I feel beings should have morals. Otherwise, we would be a lawless land. I’d hate that.

Kids or puppies? Puppies, I’m still a kid, but I’m not great with people younger than me. They can be too loud. I love puppies!

Museum or beach? Museum, I love the museum of Remtaya.

World peace or end famine? That’s a tricky one. I’d say world peace, with that we can then join together and find ways to end famine for people. (Legend: Love your logic here.)

Winter or summer? Winter, I love the snow.

Dance or football? What’s a football, is it a ball shaped like a foot? I like to dance when no one is looking.

Olives or sardines? I’m a picky eater. I’ve never had sardines, but I don’t like olives.

Rainbows or monochrome? Rainbows are really cool. I could talk for hours about how they work.

Brain or gut? Like to eat? Or to use? I’m not sure what you mean. I don’t have a gut to follow yet, I follow where my mind goes.

Traditional or new? I like new things.

Revenge or justice? Revenge feels too violent, I’d have to go with justice.

Fast zombies or slow zombies? I’m not sure what a zombie is, but I think I’d want them to be slow.

Mountains or oceans? I’ve always liked the distant mountains across the land of Terina. Going to see the ocean would be great.

Afterlife or ghost? I speak to a really special person who would know more about the afterlife and ghosts, she’s really amazing.

Friendship or the law? Being there for your friends is great, but I believe obeying the law is very important.

Fantasy or reality? I like reading fiction. But the real world has so many cool things to learn about.

Legend: Have you ever broken a law?

Seth: I hope not. I don’t want to get in trouble.

Legend: I'm starting think it's impossible for you to get into trouble. But if you did...if you had to hide a body, whose would it be and who would you ask to help you?

Seth: What! Oh my Great One! That’s awful. I’m not hiding a body. Who would it be? Oh, that makes me a little lightheaded just thinking about such a situation. My best friend Evan would have to help me. Why would you ask me that?

Legend: It's so nice having a kid around. Not that kids of my kind have an issue with hiding bodies. Anyway... Let's try something different. Are you a spiritual person?

Seth: I’m sorry, I’m still shocked by the last question… Okay, I’m fine… I’m spiritual, though I don’t go to worship services.  The priests of Remtaya seem too mean, and not very progressive.

Legend: Nobody wants mean priests! What about something you do like. Give us your desert island five for any type of thing you like e.g. books, music, food, company, gadgets, weapons, spaceships, really anything you’re passionate about.

Seth: I would hate to be on a desert island. But if I was stuck there, I would need something to read so books, some food, even though I’d be condemning them to the same fate as me, I’d need my best friends Biz and Shadow, some people call them my pet dogs, but they are much more than that. Who else would I talk to? My room, if I’m stranded there, I’d need my room to feel safe in. Perhaps if I prayed to the Great One, He could send the Kry to save me and my friends? If not, then a wand so I could use magic to maybe get out of there. What’s a spaceship? Is it a ship in space? That sounds really cool. I’d like to have one of those to dock at the island and take me to different worlds!

Legend: How do you feel about magic? If you use magic, tell us a bit about it.

Seth: I’m really good at magic actually. So, I like it. People mostly use what is called harmonic magic. You’ll have to use your voice to sing a spell into existence. I don’t have the best singing voice, but that’s where a wand comes in. It can focus the spell you want to cast better. Like I said before Terinta has an energy field around it that helps anyone use magic, because it’s in the air. It’s everywhere.

Legend: You should chat to my mate some time. He's a music caster, too. Weirdly shy for someone who performs in front of tens of thousands of people. If your magic is in the air, do you have a good relationship with nature?

Seth: I’m more of a city kid, but I like learning about the natural world. I love trees. And um, it’s kind of odd, but sometimes the elements talk to me. Water seems to talk to me the most. I don’t know what that means. I’ve never told anyone that before.

Legend: Elemental magic is very common in my world, so this makes perfect sense. I hope you talk back politely. You seem like the kind that would. If that's unusual in your world, you must have a lot on. What situation would be ‘too much’ for you to handle?

Seth: To be the next Chosen One.The nation of Remtaya, my country, is at war with their neighboring nation of Kondoma. The two capitals of the same names as the country they are part of don’t like each other at all. The war has been happening for as long as I’ve been alive. The city and country of Remtaya want to have a Chosen One to go and kill the king of Kondoma. It would be too much if I was called as the next Chosen One. The time of the Chosen Ones is over. Why do people want one so much?

Legend: Uh. Having a bard as a mate, I hear a lot of stories and I... nope. You know what? Not my business. If you were the Chosen One, you'd have to kill someone and you've made it pretty clear how you feel about violence. Is there any circumstance you think you could kill someone?

Seth: I’m sorry, but that’s just really scary to think about. I wouldn’t kill anyone. I cry when I kill a spider. If something happened to Biz or Shadow, I might become pretty angry and, perhaps… No, I wouldn’t kill anyone. That would be murder, there is too much of that going on with the war happening right now.

Legend: I like you kid. You're welcome back any time.
